Melissa founded A Walk Around the Corner in 2005. After ten years of working for non-profit organizations, Melissa
found her true calling - working with animals. She knew from experience how difficult it can be to find someone you trust with your pet, so she began her pet sitting business with lots of love, patience and understanding, and she continues to thrive on that foundation. Melissa knows that your pet is not "just" a pet but is a part of your immediate family. Melissa is certified by the Animal Behavior College as a Dog Trainer, and is currently enrolled in a Veterinary Assistant program in addition to furthering her studies in dog training. She is also certified in first aid for pets by the American Red Cross. Melissa is the very proud mom of Molly-Muffin and Walter-Melon.

Jason is the Co-Founder of A Walk Around the Corner. He is certified in first aid for cats and dogs by the American Red Cross, and has several years experience caring for dogs. During his teenage years and early adulthood years, Jason had a Beagle mix, Maggie, who was very popular in Brooklyn Heights. People in the neighborhood used to spoil her and would actually stop by to bring food to Maggie. She was also a big ham and would pose as soon as she saw someone holding a camera. Jason is now the proud dad of Molly-Muffin who, at 55 pounds, likes to leap into his arms when she gets scared late at night, and also of Walter-Melon who just likes to leap into Jason’s arms in general. |

Catherine joined our staff in January of 2008, and is certified by the American Red Cross in first aid for pets. She works primarily in the Windsor Terrace and Kensington areas. When Catherine is not working for A Walk Around the Corner, she devotes the rest of her time to her adorable son as well as her fiancé, David. Catherine also enjoys listening to music, writing poetry, drawing sketches and sight seeing. |

Deirdre joined our staff in the fall of 2008, and came highly recommended by her sister, Catherine. Deirdre works primarily in the Park Slope area. As far back as Deirdre can remember, she has always been surrounded by all different types of animals, and her love for them started at a very early age. Deirdre has a very strong bond with cats, and has even personally hand raised many kittens that she rescued off of the street. At one point she had 11 cats and four dogs because she cannot bear to see an animal living on the street instead of being in a warm home living with a family to love them. When Deirdre cannot personally care for an animal, she takes whatever steps possible to help place the animal in an appropriate home. Deirdre is certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid for Pets, and is the proud owner of her
cat, Trinity. |

Jackie works primarily in the Park Slope area, and has lived in Brooklyn since graduating college in 2006. When she is not walking dogs, petting dogs, and playing with dogs, you can find her losing track of time in her art studio, drawing comics, or DJ'ing at various parties and clubs around NYC. Jackie spends the remainder of her free time hanging out with her cat, Merveilleux (a.k.a. “Kitty”), going on adventures, eating vegetables, hanging out with her nephew, and seeking out vintage cameras for the collection she has with her boyfriend, Mike. Jackie is certified in first aid for pets by the American Red Cross, and joined our staff in the spring of 2009. |

Brandy moved to Brooklyn in the spring of 2005 from Texas. She knew she loved animals at a very young age and was thrilled when her dad brought home a Sheepdog puppy who she named Heather. After the birth of her younger brother, Brandy's parents gave her beloved dog to her grandparents. However, much to her father’s dismay, Brandy began bringing in stray cats, one time hiding a kitten in the bathroom of her bedroom for three days before being discovered. She even had a pet bunny named Hoppy and a baby snapper turtle named Murtle. Currently Brandy is waiting to move in to her own place with her boyfriend Ian so they can adopt their first dog together. Brandy spends her free time writing a children's book, reading books and watching movies. Brandy, who is certified in First Aid for Pets, joined our staff in the summer of 2009, and she handles occasional walks and pet sitting. |

Stephanie was born in NYC but moved to California at age four. She moved back to New York in August of 2009, and joined our staff in 2010. Stephanie worked at a dog kennel in California where she gained hands-on experience with dogs. But her love for animals started at a very young age when she dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian. Although, she was not able to pursue that dream, she enjoyed the different pets she has owned over the years. The two pets she remembers with the most fondness are Oso, a Rottweiler, and Carnelo, a Chihuahua. She loved the dogs for very different reasons. Stephanie had a very strong connection with Oso who was very intelligent, and understood commands in both English and Spanish. Carnelo, on the other hand, was a special dog who had a bit of separation anxiety and seemed very child-like. Carnelo also loved to dress up and show off his different outfits. Stephanie also owned pet rats that were smart, affectionate and trainable. Her favorite pet rat was a female hood ear, Mocha, who had fawn-colored fur and chocolate eyes that really stood out. Today Stephanie's home is ruled by two cats, Damien and B Boy. Stephanie works primarily in the Park Slope area. |
